Organizational Structure

A clear chain of command connecting state-level leadership to volunteers serving in communities across Kano State.

  1. Level 1

    State Command

    Highest administrative and operational authority of WADA in Kano State; sets policy, strategy and supervises all command structures.

  2. Level 2

    Deputy Commanders

    Portfolio leadership covering operations, administration and finance, narcotics, planning and seminar, special services, and guidance and counselling.

  3. Level 3

    Assistant Commanders

    Support departmental leadership and coordinate assigned functional responsibilities.

  4. Level 4

    Area Commands

    Headed by an Area Commandant, supervising Zonal and Unit Commands within an assigned area.

  5. Level 5

    Zonal Commands

    Led by a Zonal Commandant, supervising Unit Command activities and local campaigns.

  6. Level 6

    Unit Commands

    Headed by a Unit Commandant, supported by volunteer officers and WADA Marshals.

  7. Level 7

    WADA Marshals

    Trained volunteers delivering grassroots prevention, outreach and community service.

How each command level works

Area Command Structure

Each Area Command is headed by an Area Commandant responsible for:

  • Coordinating operational activities within assigned areas
  • Supervising Zonal and Unit Commands
  • Monitoring program implementation
  • Supporting community engagement initiatives
  • Reporting activities to the State Command

Zonal Command Structure

Each Zonal Command is led by a Zonal Commandant responsible for:

  • Supervising Unit Command activities
  • Coordinating local awareness campaigns
  • Monitoring volunteer performance
  • Facilitating communication between grassroots structures and higher command levels
  • Supporting community mobilization and stakeholder engagement

Unit Command Structure

Each Unit Command is headed by a Unit Commandant and supported by volunteer officers and WADA Marshals. Unit responsibilities:

  • Community sensitization programs
  • School outreach activities
  • Drug abuse prevention campaigns
  • Volunteer mobilization
  • Data collection and reporting
  • Community service initiatives

WADA Marshals

WADA Marshals constitute the backbone of the organization and serve as trained volunteers dedicated to promoting drug abuse prevention, youth development, peace building and community service.
